1) first person posts a topic. It should be a question that can be answered "yes" or "no". "Is ... good" question is OK, "What is better: ... or ***" is not. 2) the first two people commenting would be the ones to discuss the topic ("fighters") 3) the person who posted after that (it shouldn't be one of the "fighters", but it can be a topicstarter) decides which "fighter" chooses which opinion. 4) the "fighters" should protect the opinion they are chosen to protect (even if they disagree with this answer, and though they are free to say about their true opinion in their first message after the sides are chosen, they have to protect the opinion they were chosen for) 5) the fighter loses automatically if she doesn't reply for more then a day 6) each "fighter" has 5 posts to prove the opinion they are chosen for. Double posting is not allowed, editing posts after another's reply or deleting posts are not allowed 7) arguments should be valid and shouldn't be parody (even if the fighter is trying to prove something she believes to be absolutely wrong - you shouldn't became a "fighter" otherwise) 8) after both the fighters depleted their limit, the topicstarter or someone from admins' team should conclude the discussion (not about who is right or wrong, but what arguments were invalid and what arguments were not answered). 9) the next person is a topicstater. So, the first topic: "Should there be any forbidden topics in this game?" Edited by Varan, Feb 12 2012, 01:35 PM.

Heads it is! DEFEND YOUR "YES" VARIANT! NO: Well, I actually DID want this one. Considering this is a discussion club, you should really be able to choose any topic to discuss. After all, the whole point of a discussion is to reach a point in which you can decide equally and choose the better outcome. As it is, with limiting choices on what to discuss, it can affect opinions and ideas we can share. Of course, that doesn't mean that all topics are good ones. Sure, there are inappropriate subjects that may be a bit too mature for younger people. Still, logical approaches such as SPOILER ALERTS or WARNINGS at the beginning of each discussion should work. And people with any common sense would, in the first place, avoid such topics. So yeah. I vote for no banned topics. |

Honestly, I believe your opinion to be true. But the game is the game. YES: So, i'll show you there should be some banned topics. You know, there are some topics, when reasoning can be offensive to some group of people. Let's suppose the topic would be something like "Is the race A better, then the race B?" So the arguments of the one defending the "Yes" variant would be offensive. And the other problem is that she can actually convince someone even if she doesn't believe it herself. And do you really think that most young people would just go away after seeing your "Not under 18" sign? |
